Privacy policy

GleamHub Inc. (the ‘Company’) sets out this Privacy Policy (the ‘Policy’) regarding the handling of users’ personal information in the services provided on this website (the ‘Services’).

Article 1: Personal information

‘Personal information’ means personal information as defined in Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information: information about a living individual that identifies a specific person through a name, date of birth, address, phone number, contact details or other descriptions contained in it, as well as information that identifies a specific individual on its own, including data relating to appearance, fingerprints or voiceprints and health insurance card insurer numbers (personal identification information).

Article 2: How we collect personal information

When a user registers for the Services, the Company may request personal information such as their name, date of birth, address, phone number, email address, bank account number, credit card number and driver’s license number. The Company may also collect transaction records containing personal information and payment information relating to transactions between users and our partners from those partners, including information providers, advertisers and advertising distribution partners (the ‘Partners’).

Article 3: Purposes of collection and use

The Company collects and uses personal information for the following purposes:

1. To provide and operate the Company’s services
2. To respond to users’ inquiries, including verifying their identity
3. To email users about new features, updates and campaigns for services they use, and about other services offered by the Company
4. To contact users as needed about maintenance, important announcements and other matters
5. To identify users who violate the terms of service or attempt to use the Services for fraudulent or improper purposes, and to refuse their use of the Services
6. To enable users to view, modify or delete their registered information and view their usage status
7. To charge users for paid services
8. For purposes incidental to the above

Article 4: Changes to the purposes of use

1. The Company will change the purposes for which it uses personal information only where the new purpose can reasonably be considered related to the original purpose.
2. If the purposes of use change, the Company will notify users by a method it specifies or publish the revised purposes on this website.

Article 5: Provision of personal information to third parties

1. The Company will not provide personal information to third parties without the user’s prior consent, except in the following cases or where permitted by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other laws and regulations:
   1. Where necessary to protect a person’s life, body or property and it is difficult to obtain the person’s consent
   2. Where particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound development of children and it is difficult to obtain the person’s consent
   3. Where cooperation is necessary for a national government agency, local public authority or a party entrusted by either to carry out legally prescribed duties, and obtaining the person’s consent could impede those duties
2. Where the following matters have been announced or published in advance and the Company has notified the Personal Information Protection Commission:
   1. That the purposes of use include provision to third parties
   2. The categories of data to be provided to third parties
   3. The means or method of provision to third parties
   4. That provision to third parties will be stopped at the person’s request
   5. The method for accepting such requests

Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, the recipients of information in the following cases are not considered third parties:

1. Where the Company entrusts all or part of the handling of personal information to another party within the scope necessary to achieve the purposes of use
2. Where personal information is provided as part of a business succession resulting from a merger or other circumstances
3. Where personal information is used jointly with specific parties, and the person has been notified in advance, or can easily learn, of that fact, the categories of information shared, the scope of the parties sharing it, their purposes of use and the name of the person or entity responsible for managing the information

Article 6: Disclosure of personal information

1. When a person requests disclosure of their personal information, the Company will disclose it to that person without delay. However, the Company may withhold all or part of the information if disclosure would fall under any of the following cases. If it decides not to disclose information, it will notify the person without delay. A fee of JPY 1,000 applies to each disclosure request.
   1. Where disclosure could harm the life, body, property or other rights or interests of the person or a third party
   2. Where disclosure could significantly interfere with the proper conduct of the Company’s business
   3. Where disclosure would otherwise violate laws or regulations
2. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, the Company generally does not disclose information other than personal information, such as historical or attribute information.

Article 7: Correction and deletion of personal information

1. If personal information held by the Company is incorrect, a user may request its correction, addition or deletion (collectively, ‘Correction’) in accordance with the procedures specified by the Company.
2. If the Company receives a request under the preceding paragraph and determines that it is necessary to comply, it will make the Correction without delay.
3. If the Company makes a Correction under the preceding paragraph, or decides not to do so, it will notify the user without delay.

Article 8: Suspension of use and erasure

1. If a person requests that use of their personal information be suspended or that it be erased (collectively, ‘Suspension of Use’) because it is being handled beyond the stated purposes of use or was obtained by improper means, the Company will conduct the necessary investigation without delay.
2. Based on the investigation under the preceding paragraph, if the Company determines that compliance is necessary, it will carry out the Suspension of Use without delay.
3. If the Company carries out the Suspension of Use under the preceding paragraph, or decides not to do so, it will notify the user without delay.
4. Notwithstanding the preceding two paragraphs, if Suspension of Use would involve substantial expense or would otherwise be difficult, and an alternative measure necessary to protect the user’s rights and interests is available, the Company will take that alternative measure.

Article 9: Use of cookies

The Company may use cookies to understand how users use the website, improve services and deliver advertisements. Cookies are a mechanism that stores information exchanged between a browser and server, such as usage history and entered information, as files on the user’s computer when visiting a website.

Users can reject cookies through their browser settings. However, disabling cookies may prevent some features of the Services from working properly.

Article 10: Analytics tools

The Company uses Google Analytics, an analytics tool provided by Google, to understand website usage. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect traffic data. The data is collected anonymously and does not identify individuals.

Article 11: Advertising

GH Media, operated by the Company ( https://gleamhub.net/media/ ), uses Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service. Advertising providers may use cookies to display ads based on users’ interests. Cookies allow us to recognize a user’s computer but do not identify the individual.

Article 12: Changes to this Privacy Policy

1. The contents of this Policy may be changed without notifying users, except for matters otherwise provided for by law or this Policy.
2. Unless otherwise specified by the Company, changes to this Policy take effect when published on this website.
