FIELD TEST

Merchandise sales at a music event

01 / Challenge

Designing the sales flow
beyond checkout.

As a development partner to an event merchandise services company, Kakeru Suzuki designed and developed a POS system. The system brings together queue tickets, order sheets, POS, payment integration and management tools, and was field-tested at a music event.

At busy merchandise booths, staff have to confirm orders and find products at the same counter. The system needed to let visitors choose items while waiting, so staff could focus on handing over products and taking payment.

02 / Our approach

Connecting development with the sales floor.

01

From orders placed in line to the POS

Visitors scan a QR code, choose their items and create an order sheet. At the counter, staff retrieve the order and collect the items together. We implemented the flow that connects these steps.

02

Queue tickets and tools for daily operations

Alongside ticket issuance and queue calling, we developed tools for product information, sold-out settings and sales monitoring, helping staff adapt operations to the crowd.

03

Improving through live use

We improved screens and interactions during the field test as issues emerged. Device logs supported troubleshooting, while offline handling and network retries helped the system operate with unreliable connectivity.

03 / Deliverables

Build it. Use it in the field. Improve it.

The system was used for merchandise sales at a music event. With visitors deciding their orders while waiting, counters could focus on collection and payment. Our work extended from development to integrating the features into live sales and improving them through use.

  • A connected flow for queue tickets, order sheets, POS and payment
  • Tools for product management, sold-out settings and sales monitoring
  • Field testing during live sales and improvements based on feedback
